Joe Steier is a dynamic healthcare entrepreneur and business leader who has helped found many startup companies, owned various small businesses and continues to provide advisory services to various profit and non-profit boards while becoming an author, public speaker and a respected healthcare expert.
During two decades of healthcare leadership, he has founded Professional Healthcare Services, a specialized strategic planning and reimbursement consulting firm, and helped build Home Quality Management (HQM) from a small, family-owned nursing home chain to a top 20 regional chain focused on quality of life. Mr. Steier was President and Chief Operating Officer until HQM was sold, in 2007, and has since served as a co-founder, President and CEO of Signature HealthCARE.
Signature is built on three organizational pillars: Spirituality, Learning, and Intrapreneurship. The company has grown into an innovative healthcare provider operating 115 skilled-nursing centers, medical and non-medical home care businesses, a recently-launched assisted living division and a hospital, that has earned many national awards and accolades. Signature has advanced the growth of various other innovative affiliate companies and organizations, including Integritas, Serenity, InnovateLTC, Signature Rehab, Silver Angels, HomeNow Medical Supplies, and more, in support of the Intra-preneurship pillar.
The company has over 19,000 employees – referred to as ‘stakeholders’ – and has been recognized with various ‘Best Places to Work’ honors, including Modern Healthcare. The company also continues to advance clinical programming and has achieved its best regulatory performance levels to date with nearly 50% of its skilled-nursing centers earning 4- and 5-star ratings from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
